Memphis Grizzlies vs New Orleans Pelicans

The Grizzlies played the Pelicans Tuesday night at the Fed Ex Forum.  The game was pretty much decided by the end of the first quarter.  The score was tied at twelve midway through the first quarter, but it was all Pelicans after that.  Zach Randolph left the game early, because his fiancee went into labor with his new son.  Mike Conley was the only Grizzly that showed up tonight except for maybe Mike Miller in garbage time.  Conley had 26 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, and 1 steal in almost 34 minutes of game time.  Ed Davis played more minutes than usual because of Randolph leaving early, and he looked lost and a step slower than everybody else.  Marc Gasol did not have a great game tonight, and he showed his anger at the end of the third quarter when he hammered the scorers table.  Turnovers continued to be a huge problem for the Grizzlies.  The Grizzlies finished the game with 18 turnovers, which actually was less than most people would have predicted after the first half.  The final score ended up being 99-84, but the bench had a big run at the end to cut the gap quite a bit.  Many people will use the first week of the season to  prove the Grizzlies made a mistake letting Hollins go, but i think it is still too early to make a definite decision on that.  It is unfair to Coach Joerger to already consider him a failure after one week.  If you want to find a positive from this game, maybe this will be the wake up call the Grizzlies needed to get going, because if they don’t play better the Warriors will clobber them Saturday Night.
