Tennessee Dominates The Citadel

Tennessee hosted The Citadel Bulldogs Monday night at Thompson Bowling Arena in Knoxville.  Tennessee was hot out of the gate, and The Citadel could not buy a basket.  Jordan McRae and Antonio Barton both hit their three pointers early.  The Vols started off hot and never looked back.  This game was pretty much over about half way through the first half.  It was a wire to wire win for Tennessee, with a lead hovering around 20 points for most of the game.

Tennessee had this one in the bag from the start.  Cuanzo Martin had a chance to play his young guys for most of the second half and he took advantage of it.  Of all the young guys, Robert Hubbs seemed to have stood out the most.  Hubbs proved he can handle the ball, and make shots for the Vols.  Before the bench finished off the game, Jordan McRae, Antonio Barton, and Jarnell Stokes all looked impressive tonight.  Jordan McRae finished the game with 20 points and 3 blocks.  Antonio Barton finished the game with 13 points and 2 assists going 3/4 from three-point land, and Jarnell Stokes had 9 points and was 3/4 from the free throw line.

Tennessee looked much better tonight than in their previous two games.  They took tonight’s game by a final score of 86-60 over The Citadel.  The Vols hit their outside shots, and used their big men effectively in the paint.  The Citadel is not a great team, but it is still encouraging to see the Vols get off to a hot start and not look back.  The shooting of Jordan McRae and Antonio Barton will be important throughout the season, especially when the conference games begin.
