Pierre Jackson is leading the D-League in scoring this season, and has already had two brief stints in the NBA with the Dallas Mavericks. Jackson was picked in the second round of the 2013 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers after playing college ball at Baylor University.
The 5’10 point guard currently plays for the Texas Legends, and is averaging almost 30 points per game in the minor leagues. In 37.4 minutes per game, Jackson is contributing 6.7 assists, and 1.7 steals to go along with his D-League high 29.7 points per game.
Pierre Jackson is hitting 45% of his three point attempts, and averaging 3.5 makes from deep per game. He is an unrestricted free agent so he is available to any NBA team that wants to give him a chance. At only 5’10, his size could be a real problem, but being short has never stopped Boston point guard Isaiah Thomas.
Teams needing a cheap backup point guard with the ability to score might be interested in Jackson’s services down the stretch, but a struggling team punting on the season is a more likely destination for him. While Jackson waits on his next opportunity with an NBA team, look for him to keep tearing it up for the Texas Legends.
